ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis built on their season-opening win last week with a solid 8-1 home win over the Cedar Crest College Falcons. The Eagles (2-0) swept the doubles and won the first five singles spots int he match.
GraceHope Stevens and
Trinity Gruber ground out a tough 8-4 win at th etop doubles spots and swept the top two singles spots as well.
Stevens dropped a game in each set and Gruber earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles.
Sarah Mower and
Rhyan Metzger cruised to an 8-1 win at second doubles. Metzger was the first singles match done with a 6-2, 6-1 win at fourth singles, and Mower earned the match clinching point with a 6-2,7-5 win at the third spot.
Anisah Smith and
Morgan Robinette won the third doubles with an 8-3 win and Mercedes Lohman claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win at fifth singles.
"We are getting better each practice," Head Coach Harrsion Bitzberger said after the match. "It's good to see that improvement in matches. This was a total team win. We want to continue to build on this as we head toward MAC Commonwealth play."
The Eagles are at Immaculata on Thursday and open league play at Messiah on Saturday.
