HUNTINGDON, Pa. - In its season opener on Wednesday evening, Eastern Women's Tennis began the spring with a 6-3 win over Juniata on the road. The Eagles emerged victorious in five singles matches and one doubles match to start the season 1-0.
In singles competition,
Trinity Gruber lost just three games at No. 2 singles in a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while
Sarah Mower won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-4.
Rhyan Metzger lost just two games at No. 4 singles in a 6-2, 6-0 win, while
Lily Steiner earned her first victory at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
Mercedes Lohmann dominated at No. 6 singles with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score.
In doubles play, the No. 3 doubles team of
Morgan Robinette and
Anisah Smith recorded an 8-0 win to give rookie Head Coach
Harrison Bitzberger his second win of the season and his first as the coach of the women's team.
Eastern will be back in St. Davids on Friday for its home opener against Cedar Crest. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
