OWINGS MILLS, Md.– Eastern University Field Hockey (6-9, 1-4) dropped a MAC Commonwealth match on the fast surface at Stevenson University. The host Mustangs scored twice in the second quarter and twice in the third to secure a 4-0 result.
The Eagles had a the first shot of the game, an effort from
Abby Hakes that was turned away by Mustang goalie Eve Vickery. The rest of the saves in the match would all be made at the other end. The Eagles held off the Mustangs until just after the midpoint of the second quarter. Stevenson scored on a rebound, and added a critical second goal on a another rebound with less than 30 seconds left int he half.
After getting only four shots in the first quarter, the Mustangs fired 13 in the second quarter. The third quarter unfolded as the second did. The Mustangs scored at the midpoint and again late to secure enough cushion for the win.
The Eagles will be at Widener on Wednesday night and will host Albright in their season-finale next Saturday.
