ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey dropped a MAC Commonwealth home match to the No. 8 York College Spartans, 6-0. The visiting Spartans (12-2, 4-0)  scored three times in the first seven minutes to establish control in the match. Abby Agapito made 18 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Both teams came into the game off important league wins. The Eagles (6-8, 1-3) earned their first MAC Commonwealth win with a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday. The Spartans earned a 2-1 win on the Astroturf at Stevenson. 

York started the scoring ona well-executed penalty corner goal less than two minutes into the match. The visitors doubled their edge ona rebound goal in the fifth minute. Less than two minutes later, the York lead grew to 3-0 on nice cross and finish from the right side. 

York's veteran group kept the pressure on the Eastern goal throughout the first half and added two more goals in the second quarter. York added two more goals in the second quarter and had a 22-to-1 edge in first-half shots. 

Eagles grew into the game as time progressed and began to push the play further away from their own goal, but the York defense rallied to the ball and kept Eastern's forays into the opposing circle to a minimum. Neither team had a penalty corner in the second half. 

The Eagles are at Stevenson on Saturday.
