Field Hockey Drops Home Opener to Haverford

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - An early tally and consistent offensive pressure by the visiting Fords proved to be the difference on Saturday morning as Eastern Field Hockey dropped a 4-0 decision to Haverford in its home opener. Abby Agapito stood tall against a strong Haverford attack with 10 saves in the contest.

The Fords set the tone from the opening faceoff and outshot the Eagles 16-3, with 14 of those shots coming on goal. Eight of those shots came in the first quarter, and Delaney Snowden's shot at the 13:18 mark of the period put the Fords up 1-0. Snowden scored again in the second quarter to put Haverford up 2-0 at the halftime break.

Eastern began to create more chances in the second half, but the Ford defense was up to the task. The Eagles recorded two shots in the third quarter, but neither found the back of the cage. The Fords added single goals in each of the third and fourth quarters to secure the win.

"It was definitely a tough game today, but a lot of lessons learned," Eastern Head Coach Abbey Kemble said. "We will continue to learn from out mistakes, come together, and hit the ground running next week."

First-year forward Kara Frantz recorded two shots for the Eagles, while Emerson Shauger finished with one.

Eastern Field Hockey will be back in action at home on Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Muhlenberg College. The contest is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
