Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse fell behind early and was not able to recover in a 21-2 loss at Rowan. Hailey Ferry and Cecilia Wilson each scored in the loss for the Eagles.

The host Profs scored on their opening possession to grab the early lead, but Ferry found an equalizer after the Eagles controlled the second draw of the match. The Eagles won the next two draws, but Rowan forced turnovers and led 3-1.

The short-handed Eastern side then hit a stretch where the Profs dominated possession by winning draws and attacking the goal. With the heavy edge in possession, Rowan built a 10-1 before the final five minutes of the first quarter. Kelly Steenstra made seven of her 11 saves in the first period, but the lead was 11-1 before the first break.

The Eagles had a 4-to-2 edge in second-quarter draws, but they were unable to cut into the lead. Rowan added five more in the second to build a commanding lead at halftime.

Wilson scored on a free position shot midway through fourth. Rowan answered late for the final tally.

Eastern enters MAC Commonwealth play with a home game against Widener on Wednesday.
