ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Volleyball garnered a hard-fought four-set win over Widener to remain alive in the chase for a spot in the MAC post-season. The program honored seniors

The Eagles (7-9, 3-5) won the opening two sets by tight margins, but needed a fourth set after the visiting Pride (5-12, 1-9) scored the final two points of the third set to force a fourth set with a 25-23 win.
Eastern trailed 23-21 in the fourth, but the Eagles scored five of the final six points to win 26-24. The Eagles closed the gap to 23-22 after a Widener service error, and
Justin Flor took to the service line. His first serve put the Pride on their heels and a bad set resulted in tie score. HIs second serve came back over the net on first contact and
Ben Sierer dunked a kill into an open spot of the floor for the lead. After the two teams traded sideouts,
Jeremiah Pha entered to serve. The Pride received his float serve well and generated an attack, but
Trey Miller picked up a dig and Lobb gave Flor an out-of system set for the win.
Flor finished with a 19 kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
Trey Miller had a match-best 17 digs. Lobb, who finished with 14 kills and nine digs, made several incredible plays on defense to keep points alive.
"It was great way honor Foster and Trey by getting a tough win," Head Coach
Randy Syracuse said after the match. "It was not exactly the way we drew it up, but when we needed the big play we got it. Justin had a monstrous night. They worked very hard but just couldn't come up a an answer to stop him. He had everything going. When we needed a serve to finish the match he gave it to us."
Chris Miller finished with 46 assists, and
Rodney Quarles hit .375 with 12 kills. He also added a pair of blocks.
Flor had five kills in the opening set. The Eagles jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Though the Pride pulled to within a point at 10-9, the Eagles never trailed on the way to a 25-22 win. The Eagles follwoed a similar formula on the way to a 25-21 win in the second set. The Eagles hit .458 in the second set.
