Baseball Wins Third in Four Games with Dominant Victory over Valley Forge

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Behind a tremendous day at the plate and equally impressive pitching, Eastern Baseball recorded its third win in its last four contests with a 17-0 triumph over Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles collected a season-high 19 hits, five for extra bases, while Joziah Trevino, Tanner Creel, Tyler Rossini, and Christopher Graber pitched a combined two-hitter in Eastern's sixth win of the season.

Additionally, the Eagles recorded 14 RBIs, their second-highest total this season. Joe Paradise led the way, finishing 3-for-4 from the dish with two doubles, a run scored, and four RBIs. David Hunsberger went 3-for-3 with three run scored and an RBI, while Brad Clemens, Matt McHale, Griffin Falco, and Aaron Santos each collected two hits and combined for four runs batted in.

After a scoreless first inning, Eastern took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning. Falco kicked off the scoring with an RBI single through the left side, scoring Mark Cruser, before Hunsberger scored on an subsequent Valley Forge error. Paradise and Santos followed with back-to-back RBI doubles, before Santos scored on another Patriots' miscue, giving the Eagles a 5-0 lead.

Paradise drove in two more runs in the fifth, scoring Hunsberger and Cruser on another two-bagger, before a four-run sixth and a five-run seventh put the Eagles firmly in control. On the mound, Trevino, Creel, Rossini, and Graber, along with allowing just two hits, allowed just three total baserunners, while combining to induce 18 flyouts and seven groundouts.

"Joziah gave us a solid start filling up the zone and our relievers came in and did the same thing," Eastern Head Coach Scott Renauro said. "Our hitters did a good job of staying above the baseball and hitting hard line drives. We now need to take those two facets of the game going into the weekend and then conference play next week."

Eastern will be back at The Yard on Friday afternoon, welcoming Muhlenberg College for a single, nine-inning contest. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
