ROSEMONT, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Volleyball used an effective side-out game and aggressive serving to earn an efficient three-set win at Rosemont College.
Rodney Quarles led a balanced attack with eight kills. The Eagles hit .563 for the match and were successful on 24-of-28 sideout opportunities.
The Eagles pounded out 17 kills in claiming the opening set 25-10.
Foster Lobb put away 7-of-10 attacks to lead the Eagles in the frame.
Chris Miller had 15 assists and
Trey Miller picked up five digs. Quarles and
Justin Flor each had three kills and
Ben Sierer added two as the Eagles raced to a 25-8 win in the second. The aces, however were the story of the second set. Flor had five and
Jeremiah Pha had two.
Nick Storz had 15 assists and three aces and the Eagles hit .722 in taking the third set.
Lucas Adam led the way in the final frame with five kills on five swings.
"We used a variety of lineups and focused on some things that have been a little lacking in the last couple matches," Head Coach
Randy Syracuse said after the match. "Ben and Max got a lot of opportunities to swing in the middle tonight and made the most of their chances. Chris ran a smooth offense in the first set and Nick had similar success in the second two. Trey refused to let anything hit the floor. To be sure Rosemont is a developing program with only a few players with college volleyball experience. That said some times playing against a team like that can really effect your rhythm. Tonight the team would not let that happen."
The Eagles are back on the court at Messiah next Wednesday at 7:00.
