St. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey fell to the No. 10 Messiah University Falcons, 7-0.
The Eagles were forced to make some late adjustments when
Grace Wise took an injury on a deflected ball in warm-ups.
Lily White dropped into the center back role and performed well, but for the Eagles to have to make changes on the fly made a difficult task even more daunting.
The Falcons struck early on their second penalty corner of the match. Kelsey Heltzel took the insert and ripped a shot into the far corner. The Falcons scored another penalty corner goal in the first quarter and a third at the midpoint of the second quarter. Messiah scored on three of their six first-half corners.
A three-goal burst to start the second half put the game away for the visitors. The Falcons scored their final goal in the final minutes.
