Women's Volleyball Picks up League Win at York

YORK, Pa.- Playing for just the second time in the last 16 days, Eastern University Women's Volleyball needed four sets to earn an important MAC Commonwealth win on the road against the York College Spartans. The Eagles (12-4, 5-0) won the final three sets after dropping the opener, 27-25. Eastern led throughout the opening set but with eight hitting errors were unable to forge separation. The Eagles had two set points, but the Spartans fought off both and won the final three points of the set to grab an early lead.

Eastern hit an impressive .500 in the fourth set to close out the match with a 25-11 win. Bridgette Kelly had three kills on three swings and Natalie Saxton had two kills on two attacks. Kelly had two of her four blocks int he fourth set.

Elle Jiron-Bujanda finished with 42 assists and a pair of aces.

"It was a good conference win tonight after a long break," Head Coach Mark Birtwistle said after the match.  "We took better care of the ball in serving and passing over the final three sets. Our serve-receive passers only had three errors in the final three sets. It'll be good to get back into a normal routine. We have a tough schedule ahead of us to close the year."

The Eagles play a pair of matches at Johns Hopkins on Saturday. They will play against Muhlenberg at 2:00 pm and then take on the host Blue Jays at 4:00.
