Women's Basketball Drops MAC Commonwealth Tilt to York

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Going up against the top team in the MAC Commonwealth on Saturday, Eastern Women's Basketball's (6-9, 3-4 MACC) four-game win streak was snapped in an 80-43 loss to York. After senior guard Brynn Schmidt scored the game's opening basket, York (13-2, 7-0 MACC) answered with a 12-0 run to take control of the contest and take a double-digit advantage they would not relinquish.

The Eagles struggled on both ends of the floor in the first half, shooting just 6-of-22 (27.2 percent) from the field, while allowing the Spartans to knock down 16 of their 36 shot attempts, including 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) in the opening frame. York built a 40-14 advantage at the halftime break, and never trailed by any less than 28 points the rest of the way.

Taryn Woodson collected her seventh double-double of the season, finishing the contest with a game-high 11 points and 12 rebounds. For Woodson, it was her sixth double-double in Eastern's last nine games. Camila Sosa finished with eight points and four assists, while Ashya Gaddy, in her first game action of 2022, recorded seven points and three boards off the bench.

Eastern Women's Basketball will be back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Annville to do battle with the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen (7-9, 2-5 MACC). Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
