ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey held the TCNJ Lions (6-2) for the better part of three periods, but the sixth ranked visitors scored twice in the waning minutes of the third to break open the game on the way to a 5-0 win. Abby Agapito made nine stops in goal for the Eagles.

The Lions had more possession and better field position for most of the game, but the Eagles kept TCNj from getting too much time in the circle and with the help of Agapito's clearances were able to avoid facing too many penalty corners. For the match, the Lions converted three of their seven penalty corners into goals. 

The Eagles battled through the first period in a goalless draw,a nd the second quarter began with the ball in the midfield for much of the time. The Lions found what would turn out to be the game-winner on at the midway point of the period on what was their second of four shots in the frame. TCNJ played a corner and the insert player was able to touch home the finish at the back post. 

The game stayed 1-0 until the Lions scored on their second shot of the third period with just over five minutes left. With the game at 1-0, the Eagles were just one chance away from a tie, but the second goal gave the Lions a boost of confidence, and they converted for a third with 24 seconds left in the third. The guests rode the momentum for two more goals in the first four and a half minutes of the fourth for the final margin. 

"I was pleased with our level of play," Head Coach Camrin Azzarano said after the game. "We had some breakdowns at the end of the third period, but our competitive drive was there and we did a nice job limiting their scoring chances."

The Eagles are on the road in MAC Commonwealth play this Saturday at Stevenson University.
