Women's Soccer Falls at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Eastern Women's Soccer dropped its second straight road contest on Wednesday, falling at Haverford by a score of 3-0. The Eagles have lost five of their last six meetings with the Fords dating back to 2015.

"It was a difficult road game today," Eastern Head Coach AJ Stueck said. "Credit to Haverford for playing and moving well."

Eastern failed to generate much offensive pressure against a strong Haverford squad as the Fords controlled both possession and field position throughout the evening. The Eagles recorded a season-low two shots, one of which came in the 88th minute off the right foot of Brynn Rathsam. After five matches, the sophomore midfielder leads the Eagles in shots with 11.

Haverford, on the other hand, peppered the Eastern net, finishing with 17 shots, nine of which were on target. Behind a strong attack, the Fords scored their first two goals 16 minutes apart in the first half to take control. Their first came off a well executed cross in front of the net, while the second was the result of a strong individual effort just outside the penalty area.

The Fords added an insurance tally in the 89th minute off a free kick at the top of the box, securing the Eagles' third loss of the season.

Eastern Women's Soccer will look to rebound this Saturday when Shenandoah makes the trek to the friendly confines of Olson Field. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm.

"We can definitely find positives to build on as head into the weekend," Stueck said. "I was impressed with the team's attitude and believe if they continue to focus and work hard that results will start to come their way."
