CENTER VALLEY, Pa.– Eastern University Track and Field competed at DeSales in preparation for MAC Championships which are two weeks away. Led by a national level mark in the 300 Meter Steeplechase by
Mary Bernotas and an outdoor PR in the Pole Vault by
Ethan Dionne, the Eagles posted several outstanding results in the event.
Bernotas ran an 11:03.07 over the barriers for a new PR. The junior narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Meet in the event as a rookie in 2019. Her 11:03.07 against basically an empty track is the fifth fastest time in the country in this year. Bernotas built an early lead and ran away from the field to take the event in just her second run in the event this year.
Katelyn Bernotas matched her younger sister with a win. She powered home ona. strong finishing lap to post a 4:47.1 for a new PR in the event. She ran her final 400 meters in just over 70 seconds to pull away to an 11 second win.
Brianna Ulaky finished third in the 400 Meters and
DeSante Clark won the Triple Jump.
Joelle Wash took third with an outdoor PR of 11.04 meters in the Shot Put.
On the Men's side,
Grant Fisher won the Javelin and Dionne Cleared 14'8 3/4 inches in the Vault to win the event by over a foot.
Nolan Case also qualified for MAC Championships with a third place finish in the event.
MIlan Sharma provided the highlight on the track. He dropped five seconds off his PR n the 1500 Meters to place second in the event. His 4:05.12 moves him into the middle of what could be a very competitive field at the MAC Championships. The 800 Meter field today was particularly impressive as four men ran under 1:52 in the race.
The Eagles will run a final regular-season meet at King's College next week and MAC Championships start on May 6th.
