CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Basketball used stifling defensive pressure to create offense and pulled away to an 89-60 win at Wilson College.
William Blet led the Eastern attack with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
Terron Bacon added 14 with a season-high four made 3-pointers as the Eagles won their third game in a row.
Eastern (4-2) closed out the first half on a 15-to-6 run over the final seven minutes to build a 16-point lead at the break.
Kaeshawn Ward started the burst with a 3-pointer, and
Draig Cooley capped it with a steal and slam. Eastern was 15-of-27 from the floor with and impressive 5-of-7 from behind the arc. Bacon and
Sam Gallardo each made a pair from deep. Blet and Gallardo each had nine points at the intermission.
Before the break, Wilson shot 40 percent from the floor, but the Phoenix attempted only three free throws and committed eleven turnovers.
The Eagles continued to apply defensive pressure and the lead grew to 31 points when
Davin Hernandez hit his second 3-pointer of the game. The Eagles made 12 3-pointers and had seven different players connect from deep in the contest.
Today was the first meeting between the two programs and is the third time this year that the Eagles have won a game without trailing.
"We brought good defensive pressure and were able to get early offense," Head Coach
Dan Pruessner said after the game. "We made the extra pass and got the looks we wanted from three."
With Monday's scheduled contest at PSU-Brandywine canceled, the Eagles will have an extended break for Thanksgiving. Eastern will play the University of Scranton at home on Dec. 1.
