GRANTHAM, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey dropped a MAC Commonwealth contest in a rain storm at No. 8 Messiah University.
Hailey Ferry scored for the Eagles in the 6-1 loss.
The heavy rains added to the challenge of the day for the Eagles. The host Falcons (11-2, 6-0), celebrating senior day, got on the board in the fifth minute and doubled the edge in the 13th.
The Eagles halved the deficit on a beautiful goal in the 19th minute.
Harper Sellers earned the circle with a hard run up the right side and ripped a cross toward the back post. Ferry had her stick ready at the back post and slammed in her fifth goal of the year.
The Falcons rebuilt the lead to two goals with a tally in the 21st minute, but the teams went to the break with Messiah leading 3-1.
Abby Agapito made six of her ten saves in the first half.
Messiah scored three third quarter goals for the final margin.
The Eagles (3-11, 1-4) host Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday.
