ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey fell behind early and was unable to recover in a 5-1 home loss to the Albright College Lions. Morgan Ruhl scored the lone goal for the Eagles in defeat.

The Eagles had much of the possession in the early minutes, but the Lions (4-7, 2-3) took advantage of their chances. Chelsea Johnson scored her team-best sixth goal of the year to put Albright up in the fifth minute. The Lions doubled the lead in the 14th minute. Desptie having only three shots and a single penalty corner, Albright led 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. 

The visitors scored twice more in the second quarter to hold a 4-0 edge at halftime. 

After the half, Eastern came out with urgency. Despite having more possession, better field position, and more chances, the Eagles were unable to cut into the Lion lead.  Lily White played Ruhl into the circle for the 37th minute tally. 

Both teams had seven second-half shots, and Eastern had a 6-5 edge in penalty corners. 

Eastern travels to Messiah University on Saturday.
