Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls at Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Basketball saw its three-game winning streak snapped in a 74-59 loss at Misericordia. The Cougars (15-1, 5-0 MAC Freedom) broke open the game with an 18-to-6 run over the last four minutes of the third quarter. Minika Glenn led the Eagles with 18 points and seven rebounds.

How It Happened:
The Eagles (8-8, 3-2 MAC Freedom) got off to the worst possible start as the Cougars took advantage of six early turnovers to carve out a 12-0 lead only four minutes into the game. Kay Wulah finally broke through off a pass from Glenn to get the Eagles on the board.

While the Cougars answered, the Eagles scored nine points in a row, including a 3-pointer from Naomi Harris to pull within three points with a minute left in the period. Misericordia finished the period up 16-11.

Glenn opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer and the Eagles tied the game at 16-16 on an inside hoop from Viki Kneis. Minutes later, the Eagles grabbed their only lead of the first half on another inside hoop from Kneis. The Cougars led by five late in the half, but Da'Naziah Brown splashed in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to close the game to 30-28 at half.

The two sides battled through the early part of the third quarter and the Eagles tied the game at 38-38 on a Jaelyn Harris 3-pointer with a little less than six minutes to play.

The Cougars then seized control with the decisive run of the game. Misericordia made 14-of-17 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Brown finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Both she and Glenn had four assists. Wulah and Kneis each had nine points. Gianna Delfino led the Cougars with 19 points.

Coach Houston Says:
"We did not shoot well at the foul line and we were out-hustled. Twenty-six turnovers is too many. We have to move past this and be ready for Stevens on Saturday."

Up Next:
The Eagles are at home for the next two games. They host MAC-Freedom newcomer Stevens Institute of Technology at 1:00 pm on Saturday and then will play DeSales at 8:00 pm next Wednesday.
