Women's Soccer Upended at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa.– A pair of goals early in the second half proved to be the difference as Eastern University Women's Soccer dropped a 2-0 decision at Cabrini University.

How It Happened.
The Eagles dodged a couple bullets early in the first half as the Cavaliers used a dangerous long throw to create numerous chances. Off the dangerous throws, Cabrini earned corners and put shots at goal. Grace Schreckengast, however, only had to make one save in the half.

The barrage of throw ins continued and resulted in the decisive chance in the 46th minute. A well-skimmed header bounced into the danger zone, and Alex Garces tucked it home for the hosts. Nine minutes later, the Cavaliers found an insurance goal off an Eastern tunrover.

After the goal, the Eagles pressed the issue and found possession and time in advanced positions, but the Cavalier back row held its shape and kept the Eagles from having space behind.

Eastern's best chance in the run of play came on a hard shot from Lindsay Kline from just outside the box. A Cavalier defender blocked it wide for a corner kick. Kline took another chance on the corner, but that effort was also blocked.

The Cavalier win is the first in the Eagle Road rivalry since 2003. The two teams tied in 2017.

Coach Stueck says:
"Tonight was an important wake-up call, that we needed. Cabrini came out ready to play, and executed their game plan well. In order for us to be better and more competitive, we need to compete for every minute, of both halves."

"Lindsay Kline, Lydia Moody, and Amy Radcliffe showed a lot of fighting spirit in the defeat."

"We will continue to work on connecting more passes and playing better soccer."
