Women's Tennis Tops Del Val

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis earned a 6-3 win over the visiting Delaware Valley Aggies in MAC Freedom competition on Tuesday. Lauren Good and Emma Paugh both won twice to pace the Eagles.

How It Happened:
With the Aggies down a player, the Eagles started the match up 2-0 with forfeit wins at no. 6 singles and third doubles. Paugh and Good put the Eagles up 3-0 with a hard-fought 8-4 win at first doubles.

Good cruised to a 6-0,6-2 win at the second doubles spot and Paugh and Cara Degnan finished their matches at nearly the same time. Degnan, who started right after her doubles match ended, ground out a three set win. She won the last four games of the match to pull out a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win. Paugh started after the conclusion of a men's match and won 6-0, 6-2. Though the match featured several long rallies and great points by both players, Paugh was able to move her opponent throughout the match with good depth on her ground strokes and a strong service game.

Coach Spangler Says:
"Emma was really good today. I did not see her miss a return and she was able to control points. She and Lauren put together a good doubles match. It was great to see Cara battle for her singles win. She made some great shots and was able to really stay focused down the stretch."

Up Next:
The Eagles (5-3, 1-2 MAC Freedom) are slated to host Immaculata on Thursday before returning to MAC Freedom play at FDU-Florham on Saturday.
