ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– After a slow start in doubles, Eastern University Men's Tennis won 4-of-6 singles matches to claim a 6-3 win over the visiting Lancaster Bible College Chargers (5-2).
Ryan Hamilton,
Karl Finkbeiner,
Nick Wool, and
Cole Patti all were double-winners on the day.
How it Happened:
The Eagles (5-4) came into today's match on a three-match skid. The Eagles dropped the opening match of the day at no. 3 singles before Wool and Patti claimed a point with an 8-5 win at the second spot and Finkbeiner and Hamilton collected another point with another 8-5 win.
Collecting two doubles points gave the Eagles a little margin for error. As they dominated the middle of the order, they did not need it.
Nick Humes fell at the top spot, but Hamilton won without dropping a game at the second singes spot. Patti won at no. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1, and Finkbeiner won 6-0, 6-3 at the no. 4 spot. The Eagles had already secured the match when Wool won his test at the fifth singles spot without dropping a game.
Coach Spangler Says:
"It was good to get a win after dropping three tough matches. We did not start very well in doubles but were able to grind out a couple points there. The guys played well in singles."
