ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Emma Paugh and Lauren Good each won a pair of matches, but Eastern University Women's Tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to the visiting Misericordia University Cougars.

Paugh was on the court for the entire duration of the three hour match. The senior combined with Good to claim an 8-4 win at first doubles. The Eagles dropped the other two doubles matches to trail 2-1 going to singles.

Paugh held a 6-5 lead in the opening set of singles, but Misericordia sophomore Allison Mattucci won a service game to force a tiebreaker. Paugh held a 7-6 edge with a serve for the set in the tiebreaker, but Mattucci grabbed three straight points to claim the opening set.

Paugh lost the opening game of the second set but roared back to a 6-1 win to force a deciding set. Mattucci built a 4-2 lead in the third set, but Paugh broke back to trail 4-3 at a change-over. After grinding out wins in the next two games, Paugh claimed the final game without conceding a point.

Good needed a tiebreaker to win her first set, but after claiming a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker, she outlasted her opponent with solid ground-strokes and a steady service game to win 7-6, 6-3.

The Eagles (5-8, 1-5)  will host Manhattanville on Saturday to close the season.
