Women's Tennis Wraps up Year Against Manhattanville

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis finished the 2018 season with a tough MAC Freedom loss to the the visiting Manhattanville College Valiants. Emma Paugh and Lauren Good picked up three-set wins in singles to lead the Eagles.

Paugh and Good lost an 8-5 decision in doubles, but the Eagles were able to pick up a point in doubles play as Kaitlyn Milano and Allison Ryan combined for an 8-6 win at the no. 3 doulbes spot.

Paugh ground out a 10-8 win in the tiebreaker to win her first set 7-6. After dropping the second set 6-0, Paugh rallied to claim the final set 6-3. Windy conditions created problems for all the players.

Good also needed a tiebreaker to win her first set. She won 7-3 in the tiebreaker to claim the 7-6 win. She fell 7-5 in the second set before grinding out a 6-2 win in the final set.  Nicole Hege forced a second-set tiebreaker in a 6-0, 7-6 loss at the sixth singles spot.

The Valiants locked up the fourth seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom Tournament with the win today.

Coach Spangler Says:
"Paugh Patrol delivered one more big singles victory today.  She beat a very good player today. It's great to see Emma end the year with two wins at the top singles spot. She has been a rock in our program and we are going to miss her. The wind made things tough, but Emma fought through it. Lauren gutted out a good three-set win as well."
