Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Womens Lacrosse Falls to FDU-Florham

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Eastern University Women's Lacrosse fell behind early and was unable to recover in a 17-1 loss to the visiting FDU-Florham Devils (7-7, 3-1 MAC Freedom). Meghan Kosmides scored the Eagles' only goal in the game.

How It Happened:
The two teams split the first half draw controls, but the Devils made good use of their possession and built a 11-0 lead thirteen minutes into the contest. The Eagles finally got on the board after an excellent defensive possession and a good clear from Stephanie Arnold. She ran through traffic and lobbed a ball over top of the FDU ride for Kosmides. The sophomore midfielder ran toward the crease and dunked in her 43rd goal of the year.

The Devils answered  with two more goals before halftime to take a 13-1 lead to the intermission.

In the second half, the guests had the bulk of the possession as they played deep in shot clocks. The Eagles maintained defensive discipline, but were unable to force turnovers early in possession to create defensive chances.

Kosmides won the final draw control fo the game to grab her 100th of the year. She is the first Eastern player to post 100 draw controls in a season since Dana Blankenbiller had 137 in 1995. The sophomore is now seventh on Eastern's career draw control list.

Coach Campbell Says:
"We did a good job winning draws but were unable to capitalize on possessions. We played against a very skilled and disciplined team today. We had better transitions today. We will want to continue building on that going into next week."

Up Next:
After a break for the Easter Holiday, the Eagles will play on the road at Delaware Valley and DeSales to wrap up the regular season.
