EDWARDSVILLE, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Tennis dropped an 8-1 decision at defending MAC Freedom Champion Wilkes.
Nick Wool earned a win at the fifth singles spot with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
How It Happened:
The Eagles (6-7, 1-4) dropped all three doubles matches, but
Cole Patti and Wool gave their opponents all they could handle in an 8-6 loss at the second doubles spot.
Once singles play began, the Eagles put some pressure on.
Nick Humes won his opening set at second singles before falling 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Karl Finkbeiner played a tight first set before losing 7-5, 6-2.
Wool earned the win at the fifth spot with solid seriving and several good passing shots.
Coach Spangler Says:
"I was proud of how we competed and didn't just show up here to be beat and walk back on the bus. It was a dual match and last almost 4 hours.
Nick Wool played really well in singles and Karl and
Nick Humes played solid matches as well.
Ryan Hamilton had several game points at the top singles spot, but he was just not able to convert."
Up Next:
The Eagles end the year with a pair of home matches next week. They will host Misericordia on Tuesday and Manhattanville in the season-finale on Saturday.
