IMMACULATA, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Tennis rolled to a 9-0 win at Immaculata in a final tune-up before starting the MAC Freedom schedule this weekend. The Eagles did not drop a set in singles and only lost four games in three doubles matches.
How It Happened:
The Eagles won the first three points of the day with a sweep of doubles.
Shaun Kline and
Nick Humes won 8-0 at third singles. Eastern's top two doubles teams each won 8-2.
Nick Wool and
Cole Patti, who won at second doubles, were the first two singles matches done. Patti did not drop a game at No. 3 singles. Wool clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the fifth singles spot.
Karl Finkbeiner matched Patti's flawless mark with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles, and Kline held on for a 6-1, 6-4 win at no. 6.
Rayn Hamilton and Humes were the last two Eastern players on the courts. The duo played more extended games and longer rallies but still emerged with dominant wins. Hamilton won 6-1, 6-1 and Humes claimed a 6-2,6-1 win at first singles.
Coach Spangler Says:
"All three doubles teams played well and set the tone for the day. In singles, we did a nice job of setting up points and finishing them both from the baseline and at the net. Desales will be a big challenge. We are rounding into form just in time for conference play."
Up Next:
The Eagles (4-1) will start the MAC Freedom schedule at DeSales on Saturday. Eastern is slated to play at home for the first time on April 2 against Messiah.
