ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 20-6 decision to the visiting Widener University Pride in the team's home opener. Meghan Kosmides scored three times and Sabrina Campbell added two goals for the Eagles.

How It Happened:
The Pride jumped out an 11-1 lead at the midpoint of the first half. Kosmides had the Eagles' only goal in the run on a free position shot. Campbell stopped the run with a  goal on a feed from Mackenzie Dix. The Pride scored the next three goals before Kosmides closed out the scoring int he first half with her 19th of the year.

The Eagles scored first our the intermission. Dix found Allison Andres on the crease to cut the deficit to 14-4. The Pride answered with a free position goal before the Eagles grabbed two back on tallies from Kosmides and Campbell to pull with nine at 15-6. The Pride scored the final five goals of the match for the final score.

The Eagles had an 11-10 edge in second-half shots and won six-of-ten draws after intermission.

Coach Campbell Says:
"Stephanie Arnold did a very good job in her defensive assignment. We asked her to mark-out their top player and she only scored once. As a group though, we need to be better in our defensive technique and in our transition. We had times where we won the ball and they forced quick turnovers that led to chances."

"Our junior captains [Arnold and Dix] did a really good job keeping things positive while continuing to challenge our team. I thought we brought good energy out after halftime. In that first 13 minutes we transitioned well and got chances going to goal."

Up Next:
"The Eagles will host Immaculata on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
