Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse fell at unbeaten Swarthmore in a non-league game. The Garnet (6-0) scored the first nine goals in the game and held on for a 17-5 win. Meghan Kosmides scored three goals and grabbed four draw controls in the game.

How It Happened:
Swarthmore used smothering defense and a strong draw control game to jump out to the early lead. They scored on their first six shots and nine of their first 11 attempts to build their edge.

Kosmides finally broke the string with a free position goal with 12:15 to play in the first half. The Garnet answered with two more goals before Mackenzie Dix closed out the half with another free position goal to pull the Eagles to within 11-2. As the half wore on, the Eagles leveled out the draw control game. Swarthmore's edge was only 6-5 at the conclusion of the frame.

The hosts opened the scoring five minutes into the second half before Sabrina Campbell answered. After Swarthmore made it 13-3 with 21 minutes left, Kosmides forced a turnover in the ride and put away her second of the day with 19 minutes left.

The Garnet built their edge to 17-4 before Kosmides converted another free position shot for the final goal of the game.
