Women's Tennis Tops Cabrini

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Tennis started the spring portion of the schedule with a convincing 8-1 win over Eagle Rd. rival Cabrini University. Emma Paugh, Lauren Good, Cara Degnan, and Allison Ryan all picked up double wins in the match.

How it Happened:
Paugh and Good were dominant at the top of the order. The pair swept through first doubles and each player only lost a single game in singles play. With three wins in doubles, the match was secure as soon as the Eagles claimed the top two singles places.

Degnan combined with Emily Stevens to win an 8-3 doubles match, and she came back with a 6-4, 6-3 singles win. Ryan combined with Shade Obadina for a marathon 8-7 win at third doubles. The Eastern duo claimed the match with a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker. Ryan cruised to a 6-3 win in her opening singles set, but ran into trouble in the second set and was forced into a super-tiebreaker. She came through with a  10-7 win for her first college singles win. Fellow senior Kaitlyn Milano followed that formula in the sixth singles spot. She won her opening set 6-3 before falling 6-2 in the second. She closed out her match with a 10-8 win int he super-tiebreaker.

Coach Spangler Says:
"It was a good win for our new players. Lauren and Emma did a really nice job of controlling their points from the baseline."
