Softball Stopped at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa.– Eastern University Softball dropped a pair of run-shortened games at Eagle Rd. rival Cabrini in the team's first action since Spring Break. The Eagles dropped the opener 10-2 and fell 8-0 in the nightcap.

How It Happened:
The Eagles fell behind 5-0 after three innings in the opener. Sabrina Thomas doubled to start a rally in in the fourth. The sophomore catcher scored when Sami Britton reached on an error. Leah Lozzi singled and advanced to second on the throw to put a pair of runners in scoring position with only one out, but the the rally ended with a foul out and a ground out. The Eagles scored their second run in the sixth. Taylor Crown scored on a Lexi Evelyn single to center. The Eagles, however were not able to get more out of their three hits in the inning.

The Cavaliers (6-5) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game. Thomas and Lozzi each had two hits in the opener.

The Eastern bats went quiet int he nightcap. The Eagles (3-7) managed only five singles behind Evelyn.

The Cavaliers scored the only run they needed without the benefit of hit in the first. A walk, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly put the hosts up 1-0. It stayed there until Cabrini scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth. The Cavaliers scored two more with one out in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

The Eagles will play at Immaculata University next Thursday.
