ONEONTA, N.Y.– Eastern University Volleyball (20-11) closed out the regular season with a pair of wins at the Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational. The Eagles beat the host Red Dragons in four sets and topped Hartwick in three. Senior setter
Morgan Kline picked up her 1,000 career dig in the match agaisnt hartwick.
How It Happened:
The Eagles needed to bring their best against the 21-7 Red Dragons in the noon match. Oneonta held a 20-18 lead in the opening set before
Caroline Shelby earned the serve with a kill. The junior outside hitter then served an ace and then
Cecilia Bauer put away two kills to put the Eagles up 22-20. Shelby served another ace for a 23-20 lead. The Eagles were able to earn a pair of sideouts for the 25-23 win in the opening set. The Red Dragons hit .298 in the set with only one error. The Eagles put down 19 kills in hitting .245.
The Eagles powered their way to a huge 17-7 lead to start the second set. The Red Dragons responded with an eight point run to close the gap to 17-15. The Eagles found their balance and got kills from Bauer,
Ally Spillane, and Shelby to build the lead before
Katie Stenby capped the rally with an ace. The Eagles hit .407 to win the second set 25-17.
After the Red Dragons scored the final two points of the fourth set to win 25-23, the Eagles emerged with a 25-23 win in a back-and-forth fourth set. Oneonta had the only three-point lead in the fourth. The Dragons held a 10-7 lead before the Eagles answered with three points in a row.
Bauer and Shelby both hit .333 in the match. Bauer had 21 kills and 15 digs. Shelby had 20 kills and 19 digs. Kline had 30 assists and 15 digs.
The Eagles held Hartwick (16-11) to .065 hitting in earning he three-set win. Shelby had 17 kilsl and seven digs and Bauer had 12 kills and 13 digs. Kline finished with 20 assists and 10 digs.

"Two great wins today. Oneonta was a really nice team and Hartwick played us tough. After a 15-dig effort against Oneonta, Morgan needed one dig to reach the 1000 career dig mark. Congrats to her for that great accomplishment."

The Eagles are the second seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament for the third year in a row. They will host the third-seeded DeSales University Bulldogs in the MAC Freedom Tournament on Wednesday night.
