Field Hockey Falls at No. 2 TCNJ

EWING, N.J.– Eastern University Field Hockey dropped an 8-1 decision to the No. 2 ranked TCNJ Lions (10-0). Joelle Wash scored the Eastern goal on a penalty corner in the fourth quarter.

How It Happened:
The Lions jumped to an early lead with four first-quarter goals. They had a 9-0 edge in shots and a 3-0 advantage in penalty corners. 

Caitlyn Quizon came on in goal in the second quarter and made nine stops in the frame. The Lions scored twice to build a 6-0 edge at half, but Quizon turned away several good chances. Jenna Lapp also had one of her two defensive saves in the frame.

Both teams fired two shots in the third quarter. Wash put both her shots on frame, but TCNJ goalie, Maddie Beaumont turned both strikes away.

The Eagles got on the board on a penalty corner in the 49th minute. Becky Howard delivered the insert and Wash ripped home a shot from the top of the circle.

The Lions scored on a scramble in the 55th minute and a penalty stroke in the 59th for the final margin. Quizon finished with 12 saves.

"We knew today was going to be a big challenge. We are proud of how hard we worked all the way to the final whistle. The team has a good attitude and continues to learn what needs to be done to execute better."
