Field Hockey Falls at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J.– In a rare Friday night game, Eastern University Field Hockey dropped a 4-0 decision at FDU-Florham. The host Devils scored in the opening minute and on the last play of the game.

How It Happened:
The Eagles (3-8, 0-2) did not lack for time in the Devils' circle. Eastern had an 11-4 edge in penalty corners in the match, but that advantage did not translate into enough pressure on the FDU goal. The Eagles finished the match with eight shots and only four on goal. The Devils (10-2, 2-0) put nine of their 14 shots on cage and seemed to get a shot off with every trip into the Eastern circle.

The Devils got on the board before the homecoming crowd had fully settled into their seats. They doubled the lead with just a little over a minute to go in the first quarter. The third FDU goal came midway through the third quarter and the final came on a penalty corner after time had expired.

The Eagles had four shots on five corners in the fourth period, but they could not beat the FDU goalie and were shut out for the first time this fall.

Up Next:
The road does not get easier for the Eagles in the immediate future as they travel to No. 2 TCNJ for a non-league match on Tuesday. Eastern hosts King's for Eastern's homecoming on Oct. 12.
