GLASSBORO, N.J.– Eastern University Field Hockey scored the first goal of the game, but the host Rowan University Profs rallied to lead 3-1 at half. The Profs (2-0) scored twice more late in the second half to emerge with a 5-1 win.
How It Happened:
Eastern (1-2) grabbed the lead in the seventh minute.
Becky Howard took space on the right flank and hammered a cross into circle from just inside the sideline.
Alison Hoag moved through a pair of Rowan defenders to slam home her third goal of the year
Rowan Rallies:
The Profs scored in the tenth minute to tie the game and grabbed the lead for good in the 17th. A 29th minute tally put the Eagles in a two-goal hole going to into the intermission.
Eastern had a 3-2 edge in first-half penalty corners, but the Profs fired seven shots to only three for the Eagles.
Coach Azzarano Says:
"After a loss, it is natural instinct to want to be negative, but we are choosing to be positive together. The coaches are working together to stay grounded and positive."
"The team, especially defense, had a tough battle against a strong opponent. We only allowed two defensive corners in the first half. We will work to fix our breakdowns as a unit so we can be successful on Saturday."
Up Next:
Eastern travels down the Mainline to take on Haverford College on Saturday morning. It is the tenth consecutive season the two programs have met. Eastern is 5-4 over the last nine years, but the Fords have won the last two.
