CENTER VALLEY, Pa.– Eastern University Baseball held a 4-2 lead going to the bottom of the third, but the host DeSales University Bulldogs put together big innings in the bottom of the third and the eighth to claim the MAC Freedom series opener. Eight of Eastern's ten hits were singles.
The Eagles fell behind 2-0, but
Brad Clemens and
Anthony Titano singled to start the third. After a successful squeeze bunt from
Craig Stanley scored Clemens,
Britton Lawrence singled another runner home to tie the game.
Timmy Gorton hit a double to right and
Freddy Yahn and
Jordan Laboy picked up RBI's.
The lead, however, was short-lived. The Bulldogs chased Eastern starter
Jacob Breyer with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Steve Sattanino allowed three runs in his first four innings of work before running into big problems in the eighth. DeSales tacked on seven runs in that inning.
Laboy was the only Eagle with two hits. He also drove in a run with a double in the eighth.
The Eagles (6-8, 1-3 MAC Freedom) will host the Bulldogs in a Saturday doubleheader.
