Women's Soccer Stopped by Rowan

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Soccer saw its three-game winning streak snapped by the visiting Rowan University Profs in a mid-season non-league game. The guests scored in the opening minute of the match and opened up a 4-0 lead at half on the way to a 6-0 win.

How it Happened:
The Profs jumped to an early lead on a shot from just inside the box in the opening minute. They doubled their lead on a corner kick goal in the tenth minute. The Eagles settled into the game and began to generate movement into the Rowan zone, but the Profs added a third in the 37th minute before scoring on another corner kick in the 41st minute of the match.

The Eagles had a great chance to grab one back on a Zoe Galvin corner in the 52nd minute, but the Rowan defense blocked a pair of shots on the goal line before the Eagles were called for a foul on the goal line.

The Profs found two goals nearly immediately after the Eastern chance to end the scoring for the afternoon. The win extended the Profs' unbeaten streak to nine matches.

Coach West says:
"Rowan is a really good team. They were able to attack from a lot of different positions and showed good composure throughout their lineup. I think it helps our players to see that level and where we need to go. We battled for through the match."

Up Next:
The Eagles (5-6) return to MAC Freedom play with a critical road match at FDU-Florham on Saturday. The Devils are 8-3-1, but lost their league opener at King's on Saturday. Eastern won last year's match 1-0.
