RADNOR, Pa.– A short-handed Eastern University Women's Soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw at Cabrini University today.
Adrianna Rowlands made eight saves to earn the shutout in goal.
After playing a pair of tough games this weekend, the Eagles (0-2-1) were down a pair of starters and were forced into lineup changes in the back and midfield. Nonetheless, the Eastern defense continued to be strong in front of Rowlands. The Cavaliers (1-0-1) had a 5-3 edge in first-half shots, but Rowlands kept the clean sheet with five stops.
"I thought our group fought really hard again, "Head Coach
Brandon West said of the game. "We did a great job defensively and were disciplined. It was great to keep a shutout."
The Eagles had a couple good chances in the second overtime, but
Caroline Lozzi had a shot go wide and
Nicole Weenink ripped a shot that caromed off a Cabrini defender for a corner kick as the clock wound to zero.
"We were able to create scoring chances when we moved the ball quickly, West continued. "We need to keep training and getting better."
The draw keeps Eastern's unbeaten streak against its Eagle Road rival alive at 14 games, but it marks the first time since 2003 that the Eagles were unable to find a game-winner against Cabrini.
Eastern returns to action on Saturday at Goucher College on Saturday.
