WILKES-BARRE, Pa.– Eastern University softball dropped a pair of games at Wilkes University. The games, which were originally scheduled for yesterday in St. Davids, were moved to Wilkes because Eastern's home field had taken on too much water in the heavy rainstorms on Friday.

The Eagles, playing as the home team in both games, trailed by five before they came to bat in the opener. Wilkes scored five runs on five hits in the first inning. The Eagles put a base-runner on in the second, but nothing materialized. Wilkes scored three more runs in the bottom of the second.

Eastern rallied from eight back against Widener on Thursday, but there would be no miracle rally today. Haleigh Williams hit a lead-off single in the bottom of the second for Eastern's only hit off the Colonels' pitching in game one. Wilkes added five more runs to go up 13 and end the game after five innings.

Williams allowed just two fourth-inning runs in the nightcap, but the Eastern bats again were quiet. The Eagles mustered only five hits and were again shutout. It is the second quality start with no run support for Williams in her last two outings. The senior lost 1-0 on Thursday. Rebecca Howard had a pair of hits.

Eastern will play at Alvernia on Thursday.
