ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– The young Eastern University softball team jumped right into the deep for their first foray into the MAC Freedom for the year. The Eagles dropped a pair of games to the MAC Freedom favorite Manhattanville College Valiants in the first games on Eastern's campus this spring.
The Valiants socred two runs on a double in the third inning and a single run in the fourth to lead 3-0 off
Melissa Irick in the opener. Manhattanville scored two more in the top of the seventh before the Eagles manufactured a run with two outs in the seventh.
Kelsey Clever drove in the run with a sacrifice fly.
The Eagles made Manhattanville hit to win in the opener as Irick did not walk a batter.

Grace Gonzalez each had a pair of hits.
The Valiants, who hit .367 as a team last year, put the Eagles in an early 6-0 hole in the nightcap. Clever hit a sacrifice fly in the to drive in Taylro Crown in the fourth, but the Valiants scored six in the fifth inning to end the game early.
The Eagles (2-8, 0-2 MAC Freedom) will look to bounce back Monday at York. They will host Widener on Tuesday.
