Women's Lacrosse Falls at Home to Swarthmore

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 14-7 decision to the unbeaten Swarthmore College Garnet on a cold and wet afternoon on Olson field. Anna Charlebois scored four goals to pace the Eagles.

After the two teams traded goals in the first five minutes, the Garnet (4-0) scored six-straight goals over a twenty minute stretch to pull away to a 7-1 lead with three minutes to go in the first half. Charlebois scored her second of the day to stop the rush for a moment, but Swarthmore controlled the ensuing draw and grabbed the goal back less than thirty seconds later.

The Garnet scored once more on a free position shot and led 9-2 at the half. Swarthmore had  20-9 edge in first-half shots, but Alina Odjemski made seven of her 14 stops in the first half to slow the Swarthmore rush.

Both teams scored five times in the second half. The Eagles scored the first two goals of the half but could not string together the kind of run that would be needed to close the gap. Swarthmore had a 17-5 edge in draw controls for the game and was able to play long possessions in the second half.

Julie Haggan scored a pair of goals in the second half, and Liz Brennan added a goal.

The Eagles will play at Arcadia on Wednesday.
