ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Basketball is back in the MAC Freedom Tournament for the fifth time in the last five years. The fourth-seeded Eagles will play at FDU-Florham at 7 PM for a chance to play in the MAC Freedom Championship game. The Devils earned wins over Eastern in both the regular season meetings between the teams.
Eastern saw a furious comeback fall just short in a 70-67 home loss in January. Taylro Price led four Eastern players in double-figures with 17 points. FDU senior Alyssa McDonough led her team with 30 points. Eastern outscored the Devils 24-16 in the fourth quarter, but McDonough and her team had just enough to hold the Eagles off.
Eastern lost by 12 in the return game at FDU earlier this month. Fifteen first-half turnovers kept the Eagles from capitalizing on FDU's struggles from the floor. The Devils used a burst to start the second half to grab a double-digit lead and held on. FDU had no answer inside for Eastern senior
Emily Lavin who finished with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting, but the rest of the Eagles struggled to find the range and made only 8-of-38 (21%) shots from the floor. The Devils only made 23-of-64 shots from the floor, but the extra 13 attempts made all the difference.
The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will play the winner of the game between DeSales and Misericordia which will be played at the same time at Misericordia.
FDU will provide a video feed of the game at
