ST. DAVIDS, Pa – Eastern University men's soccer defeated visiting Centenary University by the final score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles netted five goals playing with ten men to earn the victory battling back two times from one-goal deficits.
After falling behind 1-0 in the 14th minute of the match,
Jadon Ramsing got Eastern (4-1-1) on the board. After the Cyclones (2-3) had committed a hard foul in the box Eastern was awarded a penalty kick and Ramsing stepped up to take it for the Eagles. He buried the ball into the back of the net and leveled the match at 1-1.
The tie didn't last long, however, as Centenary pulled ahead again in the 24th minute scoring on a loose ball opportunity in front of the net. A red card was issued in the 26th minute, and the Eagles would play man-down the remainder of the match.
Just when it looked like the Cyclones had all the momentum and would take a 2-1 advantage into the break,
Jacob Myers flipped the match in the 45th minute.
JD Saracco ripped a shot from just outside the box that deflected off Centenary goalkeeper Devon Warne and Myers was right there in front of the net clean up the loose ball and knot the match at 2-2.
In the second half, both teams battled back and forth for the opening 18 minutes, but neither team could find an advantage. In the 64th minute, however,
Cade Harmon changed everything when he gave Eastern its first lead of the day finishing off a great cross from
Jake Sankey to make the score 3-2.
After Centenary had tied the match back up in the 69th minute, Eastern tallied three goals in a ten-minute span to secure the victory.
Steven Sandoval finished off a great through ball from
Jake Cahill blasting a shot into the left upper ninety to tally the game-winner and give the Eagles a 4-3 advantage.
Goals in the 80th and 85th minute by Cahill and Saracco made the score final at 6-3.
Overall, Eastern totaled 23 shots placing nine on net to Centenary's 19.
Quentin Keibler totaled six saves on the afternoon, and six different Eagles recorded goals in the match.
Eastern will host Salisbury University on September 20th at 4 p.m.
