GLASSBORO, NJ – Eastern University field hockey fell to nationally ranked No. 15 Rowan University 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Profs scored three second-half goals to earn the victory.
After falling behind to the Profs (5-2) just over 12 minutes into the contest, the Eagles (1-5) tied the game in the 19th minute.
Ali Balmer collected a rebound on the right side of the goal and finished off the loose ball to make the score even at 1-1. Eastern managed just three shots on the afternoon, two of which were on net.
Rowan ran away with the match in the second half scoring the game-winner just over two minutes into the half to take a 2-1 lead. Rowan would net two more in the 41st and 67th minute. The Profs defense did the rest holding Eastern without a shot for the remainder of the game.
Overall, Rowan totaled 23 shots placing 16 on goal. The Profs also held the advantage on penalty corners 23-6.
Nicole Berger recorded 11 saves for the Eagles tallying her fifth multi save game of the season.
Eastern opens MAC Freedom play at King's College on September 23rd at 7 p.m.
