EWING, N.J. - Eastern Women's Lacrosse fell to nationally ranked No. 3 TCNJ 15-0 on Thursday night. The Lions netted ten first half goals en route to the victory.
"It was good preparation for us heading into conference play," said Head Coach
Kim Campbell. "We played one of the best attacks in the country, and I think we learned a lot about ourselves tonight."
The Lions (10-1) opened the game scoring three goals in the opening two minutes to take an early 3-0 lead. Four more goals over the next six minutes stretched the lead to 7-0 with just over 21 minutes left to play in the opening half.
Eastern (1-9) struggled offensively in the first half to get any sort of momentum, committing six turnovers in the first half. The Eagles spent much of the half on defense and were able to hold TCNJ to a scoring drought of nearly four minutes between the seventh and eighth goal followed by a nine-minute drought after the tenth goal.
In the second half, The Lions tacked on another five goals to make the score final at 15-0 netting all five before the 10-minute mark of the second half.
"I am proud of the way our defense hung in there today and continued to battle," continued Campbell. "We kept a lot of our experienced players on defense tonight, and they fought hard to try and keep a very good offense in check."
Courtney Andes finished the game with five saves while
Eva Ehrhardt and
Julie Haggan finished the game tied in groundballs with two each, to lead all Eagles players.
"We have another tough challenge coming up on Saturday," concluded Campbell. "But I think if we approach it with a tough mentality and learning from the lessons of tonight we will be in great shape and ready to go."
Eastern hosts Immaculata University at 11 am on April 9th.
