Women's Lacrosse Falls to Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. - Eastern Women's Lacrosse fell to host Misericordia on Monday night 15-8. The Eagles now sit a two-way tie with King's for the final spot in the MAC Freedom playoff race.

Sophomore midfielder Julie Haggan led Eastern (4-12, 2-3 MAC Freedom) scoring five goals on the night. Four of Haggan's goals came in the second half as the Eagles outscored the Cougars 6-5.

Misericordia (9-6, 5-0 MAC Freedom) got off to a quick start scoring three goals in the opening ten minutes of the game. Stephanie Hogan was able to pull the Eagles within two when she tallied her first of the game finishing off a pass from Haggan with 19 minutes left to play in the first half.

A 7-1 goal run by the Cougars stretch the lead to 10-2 by the time the first half came to a close. Haggan tallied the only other Eastern goal of the first half scoring with just over seven minutes left to play before the break.

After Misericordia score four of the first five goals of the second half, the Eagles went on a scoring run of their own scoring four goals in a four and a half minute span of each other.

Haggan netted her third marker of the game with just under seventeen minutes left to play in the game. Anna Charlebois scored her first of the game less than two minutes later to pull the Eagles within nine, 14-5. Back-to-back goals by Haggan made it a seven-goal game with 12 minutes left to go.

However, each team would tally one more mark for the day, and Eastern could not complete the rally falling short of the second half comeback. Charlebois netted the final goal of the game with just over seven minutes left to make the score final at 15-8.

Eastern took 20 shots overall placing 15 on net while also scooping up 17 ground balls.

Eastern hosts King's College on April 30th in the season finale. The winner earns the final spot in the MAC Freedom playoffs.
