Baseball Fights Back to Tie Arcadia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - For the second time in a week, Eastern Baseball battled to a tie, this time against Arcadia University on Wednesday afternoon finishing 3-3. The Eagles battled back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game before it was called due to weather.

Arcadia (7-5-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead scoring in the bottom half of the first inning. A wild pitch by Jordan Miller followed by a throwing error plated the opening run of the game. The Knights tacked on another run in the third and one more in the fifth to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Eastern (3-6-2) trailed 3-0 heading into the sixth inning. Timmy Gorton led off the inning reaching base safely after a fielding error. Joe Grato then doubled on the very next at-bat to advance Gorton all the way to third base. Joseph De Los Santos then walked to load the bases for the Eagles with no outs. Andrew Check singled two batters later to plate Eastern's first run of the game to cut the deficit to 3-1. Connor Beaudoin then grounded into a fielder's choice but a throwing error allowed both De Los Santos and Grato to score on the play to tie the game at 3-3.

In the bottom half of the sixth inning, Arcadia got a runner on base with two outs. Another wild pitch advanced the runner to second giving the Knights a runner in scoring position and the chance to win. However, Check got Nick Todero to groundout getting Eastern out of the inning with no damage. The game was called moments later due to the weather.

Check finished the game 3-3, with an RBI, while also pitching one inning giving up one hit and recording one strikeout.

Eastern opens MAC Freedom play this weekend when they travel to Wilkes on March 18th for a 3:30 pm start.
