ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Eastern Women's Lacrosse fell to visiting Rowan 18-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were outscored 13-2 in the first half pulling as close as 5-1 before a six-goal run by the Profs put the game out of reach.
Rowan (2-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. The Profs tallied two goals in the opening minute alone to set an early tone. Eastern (0-4) finally got on the board when
Anna Charlebois finished off a
Julie Haggan pass to pull the Eagles within four at 5-1.
However, Rowan would use a 8-1 goal run to close out the first half and take a commanding 13-2 lead into the locker room. Six of those eight goals had come in a row before Haggan netted an unassisted goal to make it 11-2 with just under 11 minutes left to play in the opening half.
Eastern netted back-to-back goals in the second half to pull within 11 at 15-4. Charlebois scored with 17 minutes left to play in the game while Haggan tallied her second of the day less than two minutes later. After three straight Rowan goals, Charlebois capped off the scoring with just under five minutes left to play to make the score final at 18-5.
For the game, the Eagles were outshot by the Profs 41-13, 30 of which were on goal as compared to the Eagles seven. Rowan also scooped up 26 groundballs to Eastern's 14 and edged Eastern in draw controls 15-9.
Charlebois finished the day with three goals on seven shots while also winning four draw controls. Haggan scored two goals and tallied an assist.
Rachel Hofbauer led all Rowan scorers with five goals on eight shots and picked up two groundballs.
Eastern hosts Kean University on March 15th at 4 pm.
