Men's Soccer Rallies For OT Winner in Scrapyard Finale

Cirocco Scores in OT to Finsh Rally

LANCASTER,Pa.- Eastern University Mens Soccer scored twice in a seven minute stretch to erase a two-goal deficit, and Josh Cirocco scored in overtime to complete a 3-2 overtime winner over Arcadia in the final game of the Scrapyard Classic at Franklin and Marshall College. It is the second overtime win of the year for the Eagles (2-0-1).

Head Coach Mark Wagner was more pleased with his team's decisions in the front third today and felt that those choices ultimately helped his side to end up on top.

The turning point of the match came in the 58th minute. Arcadia had scored to make it 2-0 in the 57th minute. Cirocco carried the ball into the Knight's box and forced a defender into a lunging effort for the ball. Cirocco pushed the ball away, but was taken down for a penalty kick. Hunter Rosenberg converted from the spot to switch the momentum of the game.

In the 65th minute, Jonathan Nazon buried his first goal of the year on a Cirocco cross from the right side.

"Josh was really good running at people and getting behind their back line," Wagner noted. " JD Saracco also had an outstanding day controlling the tempo for us. I think it says a lot about where our mental toughness and fitness level are that we could come back from two goals down today. That's a big challenge physically and mentally, and our guys answered it.

Cirocco converted the game-winner in the 93rd minute. Cade Harmon provided him with service from the right flank, and the senior forward floated a ball into the upper corner. The soft shot appeared to catch the Arcadia keeper leaning the wrong way and expecting a driven ball.

Harmon, Saracco, and Cirocco were all named to the All-Tournament team.

The Eagles are back on the road on Wednesday at Marywood University in Scranton.
