Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J.– Eastern University Women's Soccer fell short in an upset attempt on a blustery afternoon at Stockton University. The host Ospreys scored once in the first half and added two after the break to earn a 3-0 win and extend their unbeaten string to nine games.

The wind played a role in helping the Osprey get on the board in the 11th minute. A long pass from the midfield rode the wind over the Eastern back line for a Alexa Fama in wide space. Fama earned the endline and sent a cross into the middle. Stockton's Lindsey Thomas won the race to the cross and headed it home for a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles battled back and earned several good chances. The best chance of the first half came on an Emily Cole header in the 21st minute. Cole beat the goalkeeper with the powerful nod, but a Stockton defender was in time to clear the ball off the line. Stockton (7-1-2) had a 7-4 edge in total shots at the half.

The Ospreys knocked home a second goal in the 57th minute to gather a little breathing room.

"We came into today knowing that they had only surrendered three goals all year," Coach Mouw said. "Our task got tough when we gave up that early one, but I thought we had positive energy going into the break. Emily had a couple good opportunities and our back row was starting to get balls out to Hannah Bomberger and into Katy Laurie in some dangerous spaces. The second-half goal really makes things tough."

Stockton added an 86th minute tally for the final margin. The Eagles (3-5-1) will host Widener on Wednesday before starting MAC Freedom play next Saturday.
